Arty Divas 8 October DT Project

Hi Lovelies!

Today is Challenge 6 at Arty Divas.  This is a FORTNIGHTLY "anything goes" (any type of project and any theme) challenge with a design team who makes projects showcasing the sponsor who often offers PRIZES!

This week's sponsor is Artsystamper
Artsy's Etsy Store
Prize:

Normally when given a set of digital images to work with where one is an outline and at least one s coloured, I choose the outline and colour it myself.

This time, there were four pre-coloured variations of the car and I really liked the way they looked together, so I decided to try using them for a change and see where it led.  I decided to fussy cut each one individually and stack them together with adhesive rather than doing it in software so that there would be a slight bit of dimension and therefore more

As soon as I saw this fortnight's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, the diagonal lines reminded me of
tyre treads.  I attempted to use paint and paste and one of TallCraftyDude's old toy cars to make them, but several card fronts later, it just wasn't working.

I knew the 6x6 paper from Altenew was the right choice for the front if I was going to add any kind of paint or mixed media, since it's slightly glossy and wouldn't warp.

As I was looking for paper for an unrelated project, I found an older Echo Park paper with strips that looked like the tyre treads I wanted, so I decided to cut a few of those out and instead of driving a car through paint I thought I'd use the pain in place of the two rectangular elements.  I marbled a small amount of the Finnabair Unicorn paint through some ordinary acrylic paint for more interest.

I heat embossied the sentiment in gold on some vellum, but no matter where I seemed to put it, it just didn't look right and this is the part that bothers me the most I think.

While some elements didn't turn out the way I imagined, some did, I will try mixing the Unicorn pain with acrylic again and I think I'll keep experimenting with toy cars and driving them through paint!

You're So Vintage Card

Card 3 for Cat Lovers Hop 2018

The third and final card for the Cat Lovers Hop

The stamp set I'm giving away (giveaway now closed) is not just good for cardmaking, it works just as well for scrapbook layouts, travellers notebooks, planners, BuJos etc etc!

Oh and did you know 27 October is Black Cat Day?  (There is also Black Cat Appreciation Day in August)  Sadly, our sweary black boy (aka OtherCraftyCat) passed away 2 years ago.  😿😿😿

Now back to papercrafts...

This one is all about the boys!

It uses another attempt using the Distress Oxides.  I did a similar thing to card 1, but I spritzed the whole thing with water to activate the ink.  I love the way the green looks.  The Crushed Olive (at the bottom did a weird thing, but I don't mind it.  It has a few droplets of the resist and I wondered whether I'd prefer the background after adding some soft brown stars and I do.

I thought it was the perfect base for the Hipster Cat stamp (and die) also by Tim Holtz.  Fortunately I stamped with Archival so once I saw it against the background it looked a bit stark so I gave it a soft wash of watercolour with the nearest set of paints I could reach.  I didn't bother much with shading.

The glasses frames were begging for Glossy Accents and the SmallCraftyDude helped pick which of the sentiments in the set to use.

Be sure to also check out Devon at PinkPueblo.com (and the usual socials) for her custom stamps and lots more.  She also made my headers, clever lady that she is!

Fancy some NewCraftyCat outtakes?  He's quite the photobomber around here.

Yes NCC*, you are defo CRAY!

Uh Oh.  Someone is a bit cranky with me for outing him and his "habit" and he's flipping me the bird.  Charming as ever! 😹😹😹

RetroSketches #70 - 29 June

Dr Who Dalek punch art card cards stampin up stampin' up! sci fi robot geeky

This is my take on Sketch #70

Hubz and Small Dude were watching a Dr Who special. I tried to sit at my desk which is in the corner of the living room.
I managed to mount one stamp set before the constant shrieking of Daleks had me leave in disgust.
I had all but given up on crafting but Dr Who was finished and Small Dude went to bed. My visions of a lovely floral card went out the window. All I could see were Daleks when I closed my eyes so I just went with the flow.
Next time I'd change up the Dalek just a little bit.
