Cat Lovers Hop Project #3 "Carpe Diem" Scrapbook Layout (Aug BOBW Kit)

Hello Lovelies!

My next project is another scrapbook layout from my August DIY version of Shimelle's Best of Both Worlds kit.

If you would like to go to my "index" page with all the links relevant to the hop and a list of all my projects for maximum prize draw potential, GO HERE!!!

Due to the limit of 5 projects per person on the main hop link up, many of mine will only be shared here and on my socials, so please keep checking back to get as many chances for the giveaway as possible!  I will also keep making AFTER the official Hop finishes, so please keep on checking back!

I binge scrapped and finished most of the layouts, but I have a few more left and there were two cat ones in the pile.  This one was missing the journaling, but I haven't shared them anywhere so they're still legit as far as the hop goes.

I wanted to do a walk through on YouTube, but I still haven't finished my August kit, haven't stared the one for September and haven't even done a kit share for October.  It's been a crazy month and everything seems to be coming thick and fast this month!

This is Shimelle's version.  She used a pattered paper with squares in an ombre rainbow, whereas I used one of her papers from her Box of Crayons collection with CIRCLES, so it needed a bit of thinking "outside the box" to make it work.

Most of the embellies are relevant one way or another (to me) even if they don't appear so to whoever is looking at the layout.

Giveaway Prizes

🐱 Update! Since my first project (the cat masks) caused so much excitement, the three winners of the physical prizes can pick a cat fabric and I will make a mask to go with their prize (if they would like one).

Please understand that I can't do it for the electronic gift card prize, since it would mean shipping costs and the value of the gift card takes into account that I don't have to spend money on shipping.  Thanks so much!

  1. Oh wow, I can't believe how creative you are with those embellishments. I always end up with a bunch of stickers and chipboard pieces that I don't how to use...and now I'm going to remember this awesome layout design! Following you already on social media and your blog.

  2. Love your fun page! I especially like the way you arranged the colors of all the embellishment pieces.
Coco likes to play with some of my crafty stuff. One thing was a sturdy cardboard roll that some stickers came inside of, and I gave that to her as a toy after she kept swiping it from my table.

  3. Wow! You are inspiring me big-time to get back to scrapping! I have way too many partially scrapped layouts that are begging to be completed. I've never even thought to use a lot of little embellishments in this way, but I love the look. The stitching anchors it all, and the diagonal bottom edge just guides the eye across the page.
My cats had the terrible habit of chewing on, or (worse yet) peeing on my scrapbook papers, ugh. My one cat, Teddy, especially sought out vellum.

  6. Wow, what a fabulous and colorful layout!! I love it! I don't have a cat of my own - we kinda share our next door neighbor's cat, Anna Banana. She comes over for breakfast & pets every morning!! She has been in the house ... when the parrot (who THINKS he's a kitty and says so!) is in his cage, and she always comes to my craft room. She inspects everything! LOL

  8. Love that layout. "Explore" is the right word for my cats. Always in my lap, pushing my paper bits around, squeezing in where they obviously don't belong, and on and on. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. This is so gorgeous, colourful, and so detailed! I really enjoyed looking at your scrapbook layouts! I think the sewing detail is very cool! My kitties used to get into my craft supplies but they are too old now. Honeydew likes scissors but he seems to like taking hubby's and delivering them to me, so funny! I follow you on all of your platforms - thank you for the chance to win your giveaway!

  16. I absolutely adore this page you created, Alex, and I have as kitty who is obsessed with the printer! She runs from the other end of the house when necessary as soon as she hears it starting up. lol.

  17. Thats such a fun page, and your embellishing is amazing! Love how your Kitty does inspection. Mine does too. I sew and she seems to plop herself on top of any fabric I lay out, or messes up the the designs with a cheeky look on her face. She 'KNOWS" what she is doing the rascal! Anyway, its so great to see scrapbooking LO's on the hop! Happy hopping with Cat Lovers!

  18. It really is so generous of you to do these prize drawings! <3 The scrapbook page is super fun and has such vibrant colors! I have to admit, cards are an easier quickie for me. My poor 19 1/2 yr old son's last scrapbook page was birth. :/ I am striving to do more digital books now for the kids.

  19. Love all the colorful elements on this layout. I had a cat that like to lay on the keyboard while I was trying to get ideas for crafty projects.

  24. This is absolutely spectacular, Alex!!! Wonderful photos, journaling (haha...we all know that feeling of being the subject of a cat critique!) and the fabulous rainbow of chippies and die cuts!! Just amazing.
Thank you for adding so much fun to the Hop by offering prizes! My cats want to be held at the most inopportune moments or walk across my work when I have adhesive exposed!! Cat hairs are included in every project!! lol...ugh.
I am finally approaching the homestretch for commenting on all the projects. :) Thanks so much for joining in the feline frolics at the #2020CatLoversHop!!
